Frequently Asked Questions
What is the challenge?
The challenge is to complete one cold water dip in December. You can dip in the ocean, in a river, in a lake, in a plunge pool - whatever is easy and accessible for you.
If you want to do more than one dip we encourage you to do as many as you like!

Where does my fundraising go? What does it pay for?
All the amazing fundraising you do will go towards helping people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
TWLOHA uses the proceeds from merchandise sales and donations to bring hope and help to millions of people online and thousands of people in-person at events. It also involves supporting our annual campaigns (like World Suicide Prevention Month), our programs for high school and college students, and events that make it possible for us to combat the stigma and connect people to local, affordable mental health resources. The funds raised keep our FIND HELP Tool operating and expanding as we add new mental health providers to our database as well.
We are also fortunate to be able to invest a portion directly into treatment and recovery. For a complete breakdown of how funds are used, check out our financial reports.
How do I get a beanie?
Once you hit a total of $50 on your fundraiser, we will mail you one of our ‘Hope is Real’ beanies. You can also buy one directly from on our online store here.
Every piece of merchandise also has a much bigger purpose. It’s a conversation starter. It’s something that ties supporters together as a community. It spreads the TWLOHA message to someone who might not have found out about us otherwise. It shares hope.
