My first attempt occurred at age 15, I was living in a TTI program (troubled teen) I was found my by parents and taken to the hospital. This started my journey with ideation and going on to make several more attempts. 
After years of battling my demons, I can say that while ideation can still be a struggle, I feel stronger l.
